The department is currently carrying out the following research works:

1. Assessing Households’ Adaptive Capacity to Climate Change in the Diverse Socio-Cultural and Geographical Landscape of South, Alliance of International Science Organizations Collaborative Research (ANSO) Prof. Dr. Prem Sagar Chapagain (PI).

2. Urban Growth, territoriality and social vulnerability in Kathmandu Valley: Policy implications for sustainable urban development, Dr. Shobha Shrestha (PI).

3. State and dynamics of cryosphere of Upper Karnali Basin, associated hazard and implication to water resources and livelihood, Dr. Moti Lal Ghimire (PI). 

4. Landscape, Soil, and Vegetation Dynamics of Abandoned Agricultural Land in the Madi Watershed, Gandaki Province in Nepal, Dr. Chhabi Lal Chidi (PI).
