The Central Department of Geography (CDG) located in the University Campus, Kirtipur, Kathmandu is one of the leading Central Departments of Tribhuvan University, formally established in 1959 after one month of TU established. Since then, it has been actively serving the country in higher education and research. The Department runs Master’s and MPhil-Ph.D program and admission is open to all relevant disciplines. It is a pioneer running academic courses on Geospatial Science and Technology (GIS, RS, GPS and UAV) in the country. Department has established Natural Experimental Lab (soil, water and plant) for enhancement of its teaching and research activities. The newly established Remote Sensing and GIS Center have enhanced the Space knowledge and technology and its application in National Development. The Department has well qualified and experienced faculties and Staffs. 

In terms of Academic Programs, Central Department o Geography offers 2 years Master’s, 1.5 M.Phil., and 4 years PhD program under semester system. As a Departmental Facilities, It has rooms for lectures, seminars and workshops, as well as laboratory rooms equipped with GIS/RS facilities.
